!IMPORTANT! If you have made any edits to files in your current theme folder, please back up all files before updating.
If you have activated your license key, you shouldn't ever have to manually update Semplice. You will be notified any time we release new updates and can update your version with 1 click.
However, if you are experiencing issues with Semplice and have been directed by our support team to manually update, this guide will show you how.
Please note: Any changes you made to Semplice source code will be over-written when you manually update. If you changed Semplice code, you update at your own risk since we're not in control of this specific code.
Step 1: Back up your theme files
If you have made edits to the actual theme files / source code, please back them up to avoid losing work. If you haven't touched the theme files, you can safely update Semplice without a backup.
Step 2: Delete Semplice theme in WordPress
Go to Appearance > Themes in WordPress and click on 'theme details' in the overview. Now hit Delete. If you don't see a 'Delete' button, first activate another theme. This deactivates Semplice so you can delete it. Alternatively, you can delete the Semplice folder via FTP.
Step 3: Download & unzip latest version of Semplice
You can always download the latest version of Semplice from your original download URL in your Semplice order email. Unpack the zip until you find a folder called 'semplice."
Step 4: Upload new theme
Now open up your FTP client and upload the newly downloaded theme files folder to your WordPress theme folder 'wp-content/themes/'.
After you update Semplice, please empty your browser cache so you instantly get all the new files for the content editor.
