Semplice runs on WordPress, which requires a host and domain name. We do not provide a domain or hosting with your purchase, so you can choose and manage this separately.
Here are the requirement details for using Semplice with WordPress:
1. Domain name
Your domain name is the URL for your site (ie. semplice.com is our domain name).
If you don't have a domain name registered already, usually you can buy one combined with web hosting. Domain name registration usually lasts for one year. Renewal is required each year to keep it active.
Can I transfer my existing domain name?
If you already have a domain name registered at separate company from your web host, you will need to transfer that domain name to work with your new hosting. You can either contact the company where your domain is registered, or contact your new web host to assist you with this process.
2. Web hosting/server
A web host, also known as a server, is where your website lives – this is how people access your site on the internet. Web hosting will be paid for either monthly or yearly, depending on which web host you sign up with and what their pricing structure is.
We highly recommend Flywheel dedicated Wordpress hosting, but you're free to choose any hosting service you want with Semplice. Usually a hosting company within your own country works best because you will be able to get proper support if needed (in your own language).
If you want Flywheel to migrate your site and set up Semplice for you, sign up right here.
3. WordPress installation
To use Semplice, you need to install Wordpress. These are the requirements to run Wordpress with Semplice:
- PHP 7.4 or greater
- MySQL 5.5.3 or greater OR MariaDB 10.0 or greater
- The mod_rewrite Apache module

New to Wordpress?
If you went with dedicated WordPress hosting (like Flywheel), your host will install WordPress for you.
If you went with regular web hosting, you will need to install Wordpress yourself. Most web hosts should offer a 1-click Wordpress install feature. You will need to contact your web host to find out the best way to install Wordpress through their service.
